A message from Dr. Shyamali Singhal

Picture
A diagnosis that includes the possibility of surgery can be frightening, and it drives many patients and families into a frantic search for world-class care.  They want expert medical treatment from an accomplished professional on the leading-edge of procedures and technologies.  Yet they also want tender, personal  attention from a caregiver who understands their concerns and questions, and who will take the time to address them.  My surgical practice is expressly dedicated to providing patients with both.

My education and training have brought me to the forefront of the field, and I’m committed to providing my patients with the highest-quality surgical treatment available.  But I am equally committed to my patients as people, so I strive to provide a balance between the medical and personal sides of care.

Recently at the request of patients, we are adding some programs designed to help patients with symptoms and side effects of cancer therapy. Many patients experience skin changes, nail issues, radiation burns, and hair loss. While these are very important to patients, they are rarely what comes up at the physician visit. There is a sensation that "I am fighting for my life, the small things are not important". However, the small things are important.  How you look and feel about yourself contributes to your overall sense of well-being.  That sense of well-being, and control over some of the things that bother you daily, improves the quality of life and makes you feel normal.
